This takes place some 20 years after Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner. BAHRAM's long since collapsed and Dingo and Ken began to help with rebuilding Mars from the past few years' conflict. They were also raising a son, that is until a new group of insurgents began to make their presence known, once again plunging Mars into civil war. While Dingo and Ken's son is visiting Leo on Antillia, Dingo is killed with the start of the uprisings. After losing contact with Ken, her son Julian sets to working with Leo to restore Jehuty back to it's original, full functionality. Just before they're able to attempt a rescue, the Unification happens, hurtling Jehuty and it's new runner into the unified world, making the search for his missing family all that much harder.
