Thousands of years ago, the planet Gradius and its sister world Latis fought countless wars against a sinister alien intelligence known as the Bacterians. Time and again, the Bacterians were defeated, unable to overcome the Vic Viper.

Now, a galaxy away, an interdimensional organization known only as "G" has arrived on Earth. Seeking those empowered with the power Platonic, "G" has formed the Angels: An anti-Bacterian strike force piloting the latest in Platonic-powered assault craft known as Ride Vipers.

The Bacterians aren't very happy about this.
