Something lies beneath the grounds of Fuuka Academy, a private school that consists of both a middle school and a high school. Something that's determined the ebb and flow of global power for centuries, consisting of some kind of battle between young women wielding almost arcane powers and creatures called Orphans.
HiME are young women, who hold power over an Element, usually a weapon aligned with a classical elemental force, and a Child, a creature usually modeled after some kind of mythical beast. The HiME and the Child are linked, but the manner in which they are connected is yet unknown…
But, is that all there is to it? What is the true nature of the HiME, the young women chosen to fight Orphans? Why have they all been drawn to Fuuka Academy? There is some unknown power at work, that draws all the pieces of this puzzle together, and the HiME themselves are the only ones who will be able to find out the truth.
