As cold and calculating as ever, Gendo Ikari has remained the Commander of NERV and the de facto leader of Tokyo-3. Rumor has it that he's planning to bring about the Fourth Impact - this in spite of how Third Impact turned out. That he's lost his original Evangelion pilots hasn't deterred him, as he's found replacements for them. The Lance of Longinus is missing, but there are other artifacts in the multiverse to make up for that. He's still in the habit of holding onto anyone and anything that may be of use to him during the pursit of his goal, though he's pragmatic enough to sacrifice a pawn or two should it become necessary.
