The secret laboratory of Mayuri Kurotsuchi was not easy to find. It was, after all, secret and things described with this word usually are. Indeed, if not for an unlikely source of help it likely would not have been found at all, or at least not in time.
Beneath the inconspicuous entrance laid the truth; a place that made shivers run down your spine with its empty metal corridors and the many, many reinforced doors that only had labels upon them but that had no apparent way to look inside, or even to enter without tearing them down.
However, this problem would quickly be alleviated, as after the group of self-proclaimed rescuers stepped in and moved a little onwards the doors would simply swing open by themselves, allowing the intruders to enter or look in as much as they'd like. The thing about doors, however, is that they always work both ways.
Only seconds passed before the moaning stared; shrill voices disturbing the dead silence. Chittering, whining, listlessly teeth-grinding, screaming. The air was ripe with the horrible cacophony, the seemingly endless noise growing louder and louder and louder until, suddenly, there was silence again. Silence, and the buzzing of insects.
The thing about unsettling places is that Magus is used to them. His tower had creatures of all sorts, and there were always strange noises to be heard from various places no matter where one went within it. Not that the arcane mage didn't find it somewhat disturbing. He detests such things for the most part now, so he enters the lab with caution. His eye is, as they tend to say, on the prize, however, as he only has one singular goal - Find and rescue Brigid. Nothing else matters to him in the least.
The mage holds out his hand in front of him. A small flame ends up floating in front of the hand to help illuminate him as he treads through.
The buzzing of insects amid brain numbing silence. Noh seriously wishes she could say she'd never heard this sound before. Alas, in her world, such a thing was not uncommon; And really, compaired to roughly a month and a half spent at sea chained to a wooden bed with little food and water, and only the sound of brothers and sisters (so to speak) crying, singing to appease, begging for rescue, or going slowly mad from captivity, this sound does not _scare_ her. There are worse sounds to hear, to scare. Noh, thus, following Magus closely, falls to listening to those sounds instead. To listening to the horrible wail of something like a magled horde of dying cats are thrown together made for the use of aior raid warning, or to hearing that spine-cutting clank-Scrraaaaaaaappppe of an unholy, inhuman behemoth clad in metal and dragging an executioner's blade bigger than anything sane stands tall.
She has, of note, no need for light in any form of dark; her eyes glow, and in themselves like a cat's reflect light inward to make the whole world around her alight. But that does not stop her from keeping hands clutched on a string of shiny pins hung about her neck.
Selette waits patiently outside for them to return. She can't act directly against Mayuri of course but there's nothing preventing from helping after they escape. Making sure Brigid recovers is in her best interests after all. Plus she's concerned in general. One of her hooves is stomped against the ground as she waits for them to return.
Like a giant cloud they came. At first it seemed like they simply appeared in the air, but in truth they were emerging from the doors as soon became obvious when more and more of them turned visible. Details were hard to make out as there were so many of them, but then one of them stopped for a moment right in front of Magus' eyes. It was a small thing, really. A feminine figure with insect-like wings, large opalascent eyes and a curious expression. She was naked and looked pretty harmless. Perhaps, these small pixie things were other fairies Mayuri had captured. Perhaps he was aware of the intruders and hoped to delay them with the release of these cute, little things.
And then their collected numbers began to act strangely. Some of them started to glow in an eery light and all of their eyes took a strange, red glint as they all stopped in mid-air, staring at the intruders as one. And as one, strange inhuman grins spread on their faces, too wide to be natural as a white liquid began to seep from their tear-tracts and slowly spread over their faces, forming tiny stylized masks. They had slight differences among them, but one feature was shared by all: large, very sharp teeth.
And then, like a swarm of piranhas, they fell upon the rescuers, tiny teeth biting down hard and tearing flesh.
… This has got to be some plot, hasn't it. All of Pixie-Kind has joined together to gang up on her for stuffing that one, singular little flit of light in her mouth after pestering got to be too much. Noh lets you an inhuman noise somewhere between indignant wet cat, and annoyed four year old child as she's beseiged by biting things. AUGHBITINGTHINGS. SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE THE BITEY THING HERE. Noh's reply to this assault is somewhat… Abnormal, unless you know Noh. Who is generally not very… normal in the first place.
That is to say, first she swats one, or another with her hands, before simply attempting to grab one and bite it's wings off, perhaps as a warning to the others, hissing noisily.
Great. A liability. This is what goes through the mind of Magus as Noh appears and is subsequently attacked by the swarm that he too has to deftly avoid. The mage phases for a slight second to a more forward section of the hallway to dodge them. "Noh, get out of the way!" he yells as he waves his arm from left shoulder to right side. In doing so, a wave of pure flames flies out and swipes at the pixies in hopes of scortching them to the ground.
Brigid would have the mage's head if he didn't try to help Noh. There may be horrors in this house, but none so frightening as the wrath of a lover.
For all the horrible and devastating speed and ferociousness of the little pixie-monsters, they died easily. Like bugs being squashed, and the fire of the Magus reduced most of them to cinders in a matter of moments.
Upon taking such a devastating hit, the swarm pulled back further into the corridor, little red dots glaring at the intruders from afar. They are silent, eerily so, except for the buzzing of their insect-like wings. Then, the chittering began. It almost sounded like the little monsters were laughing.
… and then, they began to devour each other. The cloud was cascading, impacting against each other as it started to eat itself alive, the gnashing of little teeth and screams sounding strangely reminiscent of a sharp nail dragged over a blackboard.
The stunning, hypnotizing display lasted for a good minute before finally only one remained, bathed in the viscous life-fluids of its brethren, a thick tongue flicking out of its mouth to lick its claws. It leered at the heroes as it suddenly began to grow. Grow and grow as strange clothes began to manifest around the creature: a black robe covering almost its entire body with strange wooden shoes beneath them; the mask changed as well, its nose growing long and pointed. Until it finally towered over the heroes and opened its mouth, wailing in rage with a scream that could freeze the marrow in your bones! And then it unleashed a huge, black energy blast from its mouth!
Hsss! FIRE. Well, okay, not too bad, since, well. it flambes most of the annoying mosquito-like pests that were attacking her. Which is fine and dandy like lemon candy! Until the REST of the things… start.. cannibalkizing each other, then pull some fraky Tzimice stuff, and become one grandoise beast. Noh stares for several moments, then says, simply, "… Nice trick is to being, no? Letting me to showing you trick in return!" She beams a little.. then curls fingers about one singular pin— Before suddenly raising a fist, and bellowing out, "SIT, UBU, SIT!" The noise /SHAKES/ the ground violently, sending a shockwave down the corridor at the thing.
Magus turns his head at the display of the pixies eating each other. In his mind there had to be some sort of metaphor behind this, considering that pixies and faeries are similar, if not one in the same in some cultures. It makes him sick to his stomach and he finds himself wanting to get to Brigid even more urgently than before. It's in this contemplation that he gets surprised by the now large entity… whatever it might be called, and is blasted by its ball of energy. He gets knocked back into a wall, leaving a dent in it in the shape of his body, but he pushes off seconds later. "Dark powers are afoot here… Moreso than I have faced in some time," he admits aloud to Noh if she's listening.
As Noh sends her audible attack towards the large pixie form, he in turn sends a blast of lightning its way, hoping to fry it and knock it out if not outright kill the thing. The more time they spend here dealing with this, the more time it'll take to find Brigid, and that's not what he wants.
The horrible thing, a creature looking like it came straight out of fairy tales designed to scare children, screeched in hatred and stepped closer and closer to the two intruders. An intense pressure came off of it in waves, a pressure that felt like constant, imminent death approaching and pushing the air from your lungs.
The counterattacks shake it, though, and as it wobbled slightly from the sound attack it was hit by lightning, a blast that tore a wide hole right through its chest.
The creature still stood, though, and did not appear to notice the gaping wound as it continually stepped closer … and then, finally, fell over. As it fell it shrunk a little until its form was as tall as that of a human being, a deep pained voice gasping a death message.
"Free …" It said, relief in its tone as the fearful white mask began to melt away and reveal a very familiar face. A VERY familiar face. There, laid the dead body of Brigid.
Magus is about to turn his back to the creature after the attack, and he mostly does, but stops when it takes up a new form. A form all too familiar with him.
Suddently, he's staring at what is now a corpse of Brigid with a gaping hole in its chest. A hole that he had just caused. He finds himself simply staring for a moment, unsure of what he is seeing. Shock is spread all over his face. He'd come this far to find her, only to have it end so suddenly, and at his his hands at that. He does fall to his knees next to the body, but he's in too much shock to say or do anything but attempt to cradle it.
When Noh reaches out with her trinket to gauge a reaction from the body, the mage realizes that she is perhaps thinking with a more level head than he is. After all, she might indeed not be Brigid. This could be a trick. So he waits and watches for reaction just like her. When none happens, he breathes a sigh. "… What do you think, Noh?" he asks, turning his now purple energized eyes up to Noh to look upon her.
Well, really, Noh comes from a world where Zombie Dragons are made from the corpses of dead dogs and humans. SHe doesn't trust ANYTHING for what she sees it as first… So her first THOUGHT is to see if something happens. Which is why the Gift of Puck was so extended. She watches the body as Magus goes all… Emotional over it. Hm. Must be nice to have emotions like that. Something Noh… doesn't really understand unless it comes to Exuro, which is amusing in of itself considering he… Has no emotions at all.
She shakes her head. "… Is not to being Brigid." She stuffs the trinket back into her shirt, then reaches a hand out for the gaping hole, attempting to swipe up.. blood, or offal or whatever she can, before raising it to her face to sniff at it thoughtfully. "… Noh Body is not thinking so anyway. Why would to be setting object of our search before us like this in so convenient manner being? No. We are to dealing with something… As bad as Leprechaun."
There was no blood; the lightning had cauterized the wound quite well, blackened flesh shot clean through inside the hole. Upon closer inspection they would find a second, larger hole inside her chest, though. This one was strange, as it seemed to belong there.
Meanwhile, something approaches.
Something hidden. Something currently using a magical cloak to DO that hiding - an invisibility cloak. That something would be Past Link, who is, at present, trying to disguise his presence while he determines just what's going on.
He leans over, eyeing the figures in the darkness, listening to the voices… and once he identifies them…
Sends out a radio message to announce himself.
As is promised, the air shimmers as Past Link puts the cloak away. THe teenager stands there, sword drawn, shield on his back. He doesn't hold it in a hostile manner as he looks around in the less-than-inviting settings, glancing about quietly. It seems that he arrived here right on time… or close enough, anyway.
Magus nods his head to Noh. "I concur. Something does not seem quite right about this at all," he admits as he continues to observe the body of Brigid… or what looks to be Brigid, anyway. Subsequently, when Link reveals himself, he isn't startled since he was contacted by him over radio.
What worries him the most is the second hole that's in this being's chest. He scans it with his eyes and finds it interesting… something was there at one point. Perhaps an organ? An internal system? Anatomy was unfortunately not his best subject. "I am at a loss as to what to make of this," he admits freely admist quiet reservation of his emotions. Even if this isn't truly Brigid, the mental image alone is horrific enough.
A pause. Noh freezes like a cat that's just heard or felt something weird, making a slight face, before she half turns in the direction of Link. That is, half— because she looks like she's homing in on something, but can't /quite/ get it. She sniffs a few times, maks another face, narrows her eyes… Then shakes her head, likely shaking the idea off. She looks back to the body, and tilts her head, thoughtfully. "… Puppet is to being, but where is ventrilaquist?" She asks, softly, looking beyond, down the hall thoughtfully.
Past Link Is quiet, observing.
He glances around. His sword is still drawn, but he doesn't hold it to Noh nor Magus. He's simply observing - he's not going to speak unless he has something worth saying. That said, he glances around occasionally, trying to keep himself open for any magic or spiritual presences - he's not exactly a top-notch wizard nor a spiritual master, but he might be able to pick up something. Maybe.
Nothing new seemed to be coming, no new menace jumping out of the shadows. The opened doors, apparently, only contained these strange pixies that turned into their now-fallen friend, or a reasonably close facsimile if they were correct in their assumption.
Far ahead down the corridor, however, was another door, this one not yet opened. Nor was it marked by one of the signs like the others. Clearly, this was the way to proceed.
Another grimace. Noh slowly rises, and starts down the hall. Funny; how a small girl seems to be more at ease here than two adventuring men. Then again… Noh… Well. Noh kinda comes from a world where things like this are … Normal. (Which is kinda scary, considering she freaks out when it comes to Leprechauns and Pyramid Head.) She mumrurs, "Coming, yes, friend Magus?" She half turns again, to look over her shoulder… But again, she's sort of looking the direction of the cloaked link, too. As if maybe she suspects something.
Magus does take notice of the door and moves to stand back up. "I suspect we will find the puller of the strings down that hallway," Magus says as points to the door at the end. "But it is too obvious. One single door at the end of a long, dark hallway… it seems too cliched to be true. Be on your upmost guard… there is almost certainly reason to believe that this will be a trap, or something else. What it might be I have no idea."
Upon Noh's question, the mage simply nods his head and floats forward in his usual fashion. To be safe, he summons his scythe to his side which glows with the same purple energy that his eyes do. "Link, was it? Your sword would be appreciated, if we are indeed on the same side," he says back to the other young man.
With that, he carefully reaches for the handle of the door and turns it.
"…that… is exactly what I was thinking." Link says, with a slight smile.
He brings the blade before him, charging up the power within it. It's obvious this is no ordinary weapon, especially with the brilliant blue surge of electrical energy that flies up and down through it.
This guy isn't playing around, or so it would seem. He plucks out a shield, glancing over to Noh and attempting to flash her a smile. Perhaps he was wrong thinking that she and Magus were working together? Either way, they seem to be on the same side, thus far, and Brigid needs their help.
When the door was opened, a rather unpleasant surprise awaited the intruders; a giant stood in front of them, glaring down at them with hateful eyes. It was a huge, hulking creature wearing green clothes and an equally green hat, a square-jawed face with red side-burns and equally red eyebrows. A lucky clover was stuck to its hat.
The green jacket had burst at the sleeves and sickly-looking, bulging grey arms covered in ugly scars and sore that were slightly out of proportion with the rest of the body welcomed the Magus who opened the door in a big bear-hug.
The creature's eyes were wide and clearly bereft of any coherent thought — also the fact that there were stitches all over his forehead added to the impression that he might have some mental issues.
It also began to babble as it reached for Magus, droning on and on about cute little dollies and how it would never hurt them again. And that it was the mad evil man who had made him.
… Oh HELLS no. Noh lets out a squawk of noise at the sight of… of… LEPREZILLA. And … And… Just stands there, staring, , eyes going somewhat wide in shock. If she was a cat, that's when EVERYTHING WOULD BE POUFED. Seriously, just, hair out everywhere. Thankfully, no, she's not. But she is capable of letting this THING know she is NOT happy to see it by… letting out the most UNEARTHLY screech of noise. Then, well. Magus better be fast at moving, because without even /thinking, she's suddenly unlashing a BLAST of fire from one hand, triggering the pin with the other, and deciding to just BURN IT ALL AUGHLKNJ":HD:KHA:LKHDLKHA BURN!
Past Link stares.
Of course, he doesn't just STOP and stare, but it's still quite disturbing to see this sort of being. A massive, mad leprachaun. The resemblence is uncanny and extremely disturbing.
He's not entirely certain this thing is truly evil - it probably isn't - but he doesn't have much of a choice. He brings both of his hands together before he charges. A quiet GRUNT is the only sound that he releases as he hurls himself at the wall, ricocheting off of it, and attempting to slam the Master Sword into the monstrosity — and at the last possible second Magus tells him NOT to attack.
So he tries to whack him with the flat of his blade. He has a feeling that he's going to regret this.
Even as Magus gets crushed by the leprechaun of death, he tries to keep an open mind, especially when it starts talking. When it mentions that the "mad evil man" made him, he starts to squirm away so that he can try to talk to him. Obviously, it has something to say and this could prove useful. Unfortunately his current 'friends' had other plans. He does release a wave of water to try to douse the fire which Noh releases, but Link's attack is just a bit too fast for him. "No, stop! He could help us!" he exclaims, holding out a hand to try to keep Noh back and away from the creature.
"Dunwannahurtnuhone!" The Giant Leprachaun whose actual name is not Lenny but actually 'Leprachaun'. Mayuri did not bother to ask his original name so that was what he labeled the experiment as. Sadly, as Link whacked him with the flat of the blade the creatures' eyes bulged out as black veins became visible on his forehead and he started to sweat profusedly. His face turned into a mask of torture as Noh's fire first starts to burn him and then water clashes against his skin. For some reason he doesn't find being doused particularly refreshing and acts more like he's been hit by acid.
He begins to grow more and more agitated instead of being knocked unconcious or dissuaded by the attacks and pain he starts to brabble even faster as his bulging hands wrapped themselves around Magus' throat since he hadn't actually tried to escape the Leprachaun's grip.
"Pleasedon'thurtmeIdidn'tmeantodoittheyweresolittleandcuteandtheevilmanmademedoithemademe."
Back at the main entrance, forgotten by the great and mighty heros, there is a wisp of smoke. As battle rages up ahead, the smoke grows thicker. Tiny sparks of light shine withing the swirling dark clouds, constellations of light forming and vanishing into the roiling blackness. Without breeze or slightest stirring of air, the smoke moves down the corridor before swirling around the dead Bree-clone.
And then out of the smoke steps Loros, the smoke connected to him by the tip of his lit cigarette. A ornate horn hangs from his belt and under one arm is a big clay jar, which he shifts while kneeling down next to the body. "Hm. You're not her, but you've got a bit of her in you. Plenty of blood around - ugh, I detest this, but needs must."
Dipping a fingertip in the blood oozing from the body, he draws several complex sigils upon the forhead and chest. There is a flare of light and the body lurches to it's feet. "Go find your source, puppet."
Magus reaches up with his hands to grab at the massive grip around his neck. "I will not… hurt… you…" Cough. "Let me… go… please…" he says, wheezing as it is getting difficult to breate at this point. That and things are starting to pop. Not a good feeling. His eyes dart back to Noh and Link for a brief moment as if to try to tell them to stay back, but he has no idea what good it will do at this point.
Yeah, sorry, Magus, but… The lights are on, but until that thing stops moving, Noh isn't home. We're talking extreme reaction to ultimate phobia. And we're also talking… Extreme oddity, because moments after it appears MAGUS HAS LOST HIS MIND, and that thing isn't going to BURNITALLTOTHEGROUND, Noh pulls out her trump card early. A pin with the visage of a Cartoon Mascot Rat on it is curled into her hand, and her eyes flash— as does a pin clipped to the front of her jacket — and very suddenly an EXTREME BLAST OF HOLY ENERGY ZOMG is flung at the Leprechaun, as Cornered Rat AND MUS RATTUS both trigger in combination of other, the former being given abrupt power boost by the latter.
Past Link, on the other hand…
Knows that Magus will have ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD done if he's KILLED.
However, the Holy Energy prevents him from eviscerating the leprachaun as he just might do were she not to do it. He silently hopes that this kills the thing, because if this doesn't, he'll probably have to stab it with the Master Sword, cast Quake, and hope that UHQ has a really good dry cleaner somewhere.
The giant Leprachaun called Leprachaun is finally released from his torturous existance as the holy energy blast from Noh Body incinerates his head — and large parts of his upper body. The hands remain around Magus' throat, but with the brain gone they only clutch reflexively and it would prove fairly easy to escape his grip.
Behind the Leprachaun, though, is something far more horrible. Perhaps not necessarily more powerful as until now they had remained far clear of the door, but behind him lies in waiting the true rejects of Mayuri's experiments. Barely resembling anything fey or even human anymore, these creatures are beyond the grasp of most human or sane minds, for what Mayuri has done to them is truly monstrous. A weak mind may even break from seeing these shambling things that were once coherent beings but now bore neither semblance to anything living or sane, experimented upon until they only nameless horrors remained.
And they washed through the door, gibbering, screaming, sloshing, intent to unleash their combined hatred upon those who were not like they.
Somewhere back further down the corridor, towards the entrance, there was Loros. And the now twice-dead Hollow-hybrid. The mask had melted away at its demise but the arcane sigils drawn upon the solid spirit-body with Noh's blood sizzled for a moment as they branded themselves onto the spirit and after a moment a new, startling transformation happened.
Rather than white as before a black mucus began to flow from the corpse's eyes, enveloping the Brigid-like face and distorting it into the freakish grimance of a demon. The creature says nothing as it slowly rises, not by muscle but as if pulled up by invisible strings, the sigils drawn on both forehead and chest now glowing in an eery white.
It moves, slowly, painstakingly, into one of the rooms. Empty eyes stare at one of the walls there as it reaches out its hand and touches it, leaving a black imprint.
LEPRECHAUNISDEAD. Noh visible relaxes, dropping into a panting, huffing crouch on the floor, staring at the giant body as it collapses to the ground, eyes wild with a maddening, gripping fear that's only slowly subsiding. Sure, there are legions of Shambling abominations to life itself coming forward, but Noh is a little more concerned with, y'know, the adrenaline rush coming from a phobic episode. She stares soemwhat blindly at the mass of monsters shambling their way, for the moment just sort of… struck dumb where she is.
"…you BASTARD." Past Link says. He knows little of the… man?… being?… behind this, but he knows he's getting closer and closer to Ganon on his ladder of evil every time he sees another of his works.
Trusting Noh will kill the Leprachaun while Magus' common sense takes a leave of absence, his sword suddenly comes alight with a brilliant blue, holy glow.
"Sorry about this…" he mutters towards the victims turned victimizers…
"But you're not leaving me any CHOICE!" he doubts any of them have anything that even remotely resembles their old selves in their, the people they once were having long left this mortal coil to leave their husks available for hideous uses. He hopes that Brigid is not among their masses. Yet.
With a loud ROAR he hurls himself amidst them, swinging wide, hard arcs to try to slash through as many as possible. He tries to avoid injuries as best as he can, to avoid getting much of the glop on him, but in a job like this that isn't too feasible for long. And neither is trying to make headway right away - there's too many for that. "I'LL HANDLE THESE GUYS!" he calls to the two behind them, making quite the mess down here.
In true Friday Night Movie fashion, Magus tries to yell "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" which comes out more like a "Noooo…ooo..o.o.ooo" cough because of the hands around his neck. But with the leprechaun dead, he pries the hands off of his neck and throws them down to the ground. "Damn it, N…"
He started to chastize the girl for her actions, but stopped when he saw the abominations on the wall. Not that he had much time to observe them since Link decided to tear into them like a whirling dervish. The young man seemed to know what he was doing, though… Magus was thankful for that.
At Link's insistance, he nods and turns for the door, grabbing Noh's hand to drag her along with him. "Come on. Time to find what we came for. Do not be afraid," he says to the girl.
Loros watches the transformation impassively, puffing heavily on his cigarette. He chuckles softly as it nevertheless rises and performs his bidding. Flicking the butt away, he turns down the hall. "Hey! You two! While the Hero of Hyrule - and time, if I recall correctly - does his thing, you're going the WRONG WAY."
He waves towards the door the puppet just passed through, before following the creature himself. Plucking a lit cigarette out of the cloud that hangs about him, he regards the handprint for a moment. Finally, he gestures slightly, and a copy of his hand congeals out of the cloud, faint constellation lines beneath the skin of the fake, which presses against the new handmark, feeling for the passage that lays behind.
When jerked to her feet by the hand, Noh utters a breif noise— but she doesn't exactly fight, really, neither. Leprechaun gone. Leprechaun gone. Huffing and panting, the dhampir is dragged a little by the Dark Wind, but soon comes to walking after, looking back a few times. Of course, the voice of the Pact Mage also catches her ears, and she skids a little, balking a bit, before she remarks, "To be following Pact Mage, is to best idea being.." as she attempts to redirect Magus' direction.
"Indeed…" says Magus. Hearing the call of Loros in their direction, he curses himself for not being more observant. He knew he was walking right into a trap yet still did it anyway. "Noh, I know there are things here you may be afraid of, but try to use discretion from now on. That thing had information. Something, even if it was a little. It could have helped us," he says to her. He releases his grip on her hand, though, so that she can move freely.
The idea of following Loros around is a bit unsettling to him, but he does so for the moment.
Noh takes a moment to point out, "It looked to be more interested being in killing you than to talking being." Then she pauses, and adds, in a soft, conspiratorial voice: "Thinking is to being Man Who Looks Like Female Elf is to being few Tree Cookies short of full box…"
And once they started to follow Loros, they would notice Brigid standing next to him. Or, well, another thing that looked remotely like Brigid, anyway, as there was a grotesque black demonic face sitting on her head and, curiously, the two holes — one smooth and the other burnt — were also present. Weird. Aside from that, nothing else happened.
Loros regards the wall for a moment, and then glances at his puppet. "Right, you've done your job. Go gnaw off a chunk of Lute's soul as payment. It'll grow back." He snaps his fingers, shattering the bindings holding the demon inside the spirit corpse.
Glancing over his shoulder as the other two come to his call, he smiles cheerfully at Noh and Magus. "Ah, there you are. Sorry to be so abrupt. Bit of a hurry and all." Returning his attention to the wall where his hand presses against the mark, he chuckles. "Right. No door, just a wall. Well then." Reaching out with his own hand, he brushes his fingers against the black mark. Which suddenly begins to bubble and hiss. "Demons. So corrosive to most spirits. And in here… well now."
The Leprechaun was just damn unsettling, okay? It's not too hard to understand that, is it? Noh shudders at this… But as they arrive near Loros, soemthing /ELSE/ catches her attention; the !Brigid, to be exact, which she stares at for several moment, then utters a low half-growl, half-annoyedcat sound, her eyes narrowing at it. It's… it's a demon… And it smells… Smells like… That's when that annoyed noise turns to a threatening rumble, and she gives Loros one HECK of a dark scowl. Of course, moments after, he… shatters it away, and Noh seems only satisfied enough that she's not going to attempt to bite anyone in the near area.
… For now.
Magus starts to respond to Noh in an insulting manner, but stops himself at the words of Loros. He too moves forward to observe the black markings. "There is no telling, then, what they may have done to her. Though I have the feeling she is still alive. That thing back there was an example that they are using her for experiments. They, or it. I do not know for sure. But that leprechaun back there mentioned a 'mad, evil man.' Any idea who that might be?" he asks.
Loros says, "Mayuri Kurotsuchi."
Magus shakes his head. "Not a name I am familiar with," he admits.
Noh says, "Is to employing Leprechauns," with some severity, still giving Loros /THE EVIL EYE/. "Is to be meaning he is very very bad man being. Perhaps to being even identified closely with greater evil than all of world is knowing."
At the gesture of the pact mage, the devil-masked creature that resembles Brigid instantly reacts. Her 'face' melts away, the black mucus drips to the ground and the glowing seals fade, leaving only black burns as the spirit-corpse once again drops to the ground and remains there, unmoving.
As Loros' hand continues to rub over the metal surface it quickly not only begins to bubble and hiss but to actually melt away as if corroded away by acid. Whatever these walls were made of, either Loros had the ability to melt metal with a touch … or it was not metal at all. That, only Mayuri and perhaps Loros truly knew.
Behind the wall they would find what looked like a laboratory. The more immediate thing to take notice of would be the creatures just behind the wall; these were not the gibbering monstrosities they had seen before but no less grotesque and pitiful.
Rather than attack in mindless insanity, however, they shied away, not entirely certain whether to back up against the iron bars of their cell or to flee right through the hole, for just a little further inside stood a man they appeared to be very much afraid of.
His appearance can best be described with a single word - freaky. He wears a regular Shinigami uniform which consists of a black kimono and hakama held by a white sash around his hips that holds his sword in place. A sword which, strangely, is not at his side but rather right between his lefts at the front. It looks rather uncomfortable. He also wears a white haori around his shoulders, though, which represents a certain rank to those in-the-know: that of a Captain of the Gotei 13, the thirteen defense squads of Soul Society.
Truly bizarre, however, is his face. His appearance resembles more that of a Hollow than a human; a large part of his face is colored black, reaching from the outer ends of his mouth up to where his brows would be. The rest of his skin, as well as his nose, is pure white, and he seems to lack lips, which makes his perfect teeth quite visible. His eyes are yellow, and hold a strange expression of morbid curiosity. His ears have been replaced with rather strange-looking golden protrusions in a shape resembling small cups. A strap of the same gold follows his jaw-line and reaches a third, similar protrusion that is attached to his chin. He also seems to wear some sort of strange hat - or maybe it's part of his body? - that resembles a crescent moon if you were to look at it from above. Or at least the right side of it would, as the white thing covers his entire head and proceeds to take up about twice the width of his skull towards the right, where it takes said crescent shape.
The man remains silent as he glares towards the intruders. He holds a scalpel in his hand and, behind him, is a metallic platform that is covered with a white cloth — an operating cloth, as a keen observer would see that there is a hole around the middle, clamped open, with trickles of blood coming out of the hole. Someone was under there.
Reaching up, Loros tips his hat to the bad man. "Mayuri. Sorry about the intrusion, but you know how things are. I do hope you'll forgive me later." He steps aside to allow Magus and Noh to pass him, settling his hat back on his head and pulling his cigarette out of his mouth and tosses it onto the dead Bree. Where it smoulders for a while.
Keeping the jar under one arm, he lifts up the horn from his belt and examines it while watching the 'Big Damn Heros' out of the corner of his eye.
No 'big damn heroes' here. Magus knows he is totally out of his element here, and he's not about to make any sudden moves or to speak against Mayuri. Loros obviously knows the man and conflict could breed trouble, so for the moment he observes. His arms cross over his chest as he does so, floating in the air just inches off the ground.
"All I want is Brigid," he states simply and without emotion.
Okay, well, the hall of horrific experiments is… Shudder-enducing, but as they slip further, and Loros greets this… Strange, disturbing man, Noh's attention is diverted. There's.. There's a smell. There's a familiar smell. It's.. it's blood. Noh's eyes flicker a moment, as the hungry THING that lives inside, that she tends to keep at bay, shudders at the surface, and for a moment, she almost seems … Wolfish. Inhuman. But the Glamour quickly reforms, and her eyes narrow as she looks at Magus speaking so politely.. And then.. Beyond. Beyond this … Demonic Mime, to the table beyond. Eyes narrow. She hisses softly, then speaks levelly, in abrupt, surprising meter, that… sounds… far.. far older than she looks.
"<… Put her back together… Or perhaps I shall see what you look like with holes and pieces missing..>
The mad scientist's eyes widened as he saw who was coming for him, a hint of fear apparent in his yellow eyes. He stumbled back a little; was he aware now, at last, of the just response that his horrible deeds deserved, no, demanded? The souls of those poor creatures whose minds, lives and bodies he destroyed cried out for vengeance. Surely to end his life now would be the right thing to do!
He seemed genuinely surprised and shocked by the sudden entrance — at a lack for words.
The people in the cage finally decided what to do, then — they just rushed towards the intruders and ran by them, somehow, while trying to get out and grabbing and reaching, actually pulling them through the hole. Whoops. Not that it really made any difference.
Mayuri, meanwhile, stepped towards the platform. "You … ! Stay back or I'll kill her! I'm not going to just give up!"
Magus continues to observe with some reservation. He had heard no response yet, but that doesn't mean one is coming. The scientist, for lack of a better term, seems to be frightened, but the mage doesn't act on that just yet. What he does act on is his yelling.
Now more guarded than before, Magus' eyes peer with a deeper purple shade than before, the energy that give him his aura manifesting within them. "Easy now. What good would it do for any of us if that were to happen?" he asks. His eyes dart back and forth between the chaos of the other creatures, Loros, Noh and Mayuri. He doesn't want to fall into another trap, so he takes no action. Yet.
Loros is as hard to pull as smoke - in fact, bits of him that are grabbed become smoke and shadow as he strolls forward. Regarding the bars, he sighs, coming apart into smoke once again and drifting through before reforming. Behind him, in the room, the body of 'Brigid' - demonic and Hollowfied - begins to burn with a pure, clean, white light. Chill and cold light.
With a sigh, he hefts the jug. "You're not him. Look, one of you two blast this phantasm. I have a Lady who requires a little revification." Ignoring Mayuri, the Pact Mage starts towards the sheet covered shape, working at the stopper of the great big jar. Faint wisps that positibely REEK of Fairie curl out.
Mayuri has managed to inadvertantly find one of Noh's faults; a weakness of the scent of blood… And a strong territorial streak. Congratulations, Brigid, you've become property of a Dhampir.
… Of course, once Loros gives the 'ok', so to speak, well. That's… That's when Noh shows a bit of her true power, lunging forward with a strong swipe for the would-be captor's throat of claws, meaning to grab, and then, with an overwhelming strength, to try and drag it toward her, making as if she's about to bite his face off.
Mayuri raises the scalpel as Loros approaches, glancing back towards Brigid. "No! NO! She's mine! Mine! He told me I could have her! That I'd be free if I did! I haven't even had my fun yet! No, no, that just won't-" And then, Noh suddenly comes in! And holy shit, is this guy weak! He pretty much folds instantly, his neck cracking and his head lolling back in an uncomfortable position.
The 'bad man' … is dead?
A little further was the platform and beneath the cloth there laid Brigid. She looked just as bad as most of the other experiments in that room. Lying unmoving on the metal platform with open eyes, or rather eye as one appears to be missing, her stomach is clamped open and someone has clearly been busily working on her insides. About half of those that should be there are missing with strange-looking organs that clearly would not normally be in there added in for good measure. And, a keen observer would not, the remaining eye is not of the colour that Brigid's originally were. Plus, her arms look … strangely similar to those of the Leprechaun, grey and covered in sores. Muscular. Clearly not her own. A variety of fresh scars, cuts and wounds also cover her body and, considering that Mayuri is known for the capacity to restore pretty much any wound he must have been working overtime. Who knows how many atrocities he had truly inflicted upon Brigid's body and mind but he himself and, perhaps, Brigid during the occasions that she was of a coherent mind?
Noh looks disgusted at the … man who's face she just practically all but tore into like Lecter. The limp body is held for a moment or two, before she spits aside a great mouthful of flesh and blood, not even consuming it, before letting the limp form drop to the ground. There's.. There's no remorse, not even when it becomes clear he was a decoy, that she was duped. That she just killed an innocent. She simply scowls at this man, and spits softly, "<You were lower than trash. May Hell take you gladly, and Spider's stopries will tell of your death as warning to others who would play at being His hand.>" Then she withdraws from the… thing, that had made her so angry, that lays there now so dead, and looks back to the table with some dour note— Before pulling the string from her throat again, and extending the Gift of Puck to the body, looking for reaction— But not interfering with Loros either. More… Checking…
As he had been doing this entire time, Magus is erring on the side of caution (which is not normally his style), but after seeing what Noh does to Mayuri, as well as the revelation of the true Brigid on the table, he can only hold his hand over his mouth to keep himself from throwing up. Gone, it seems, is the woman that he loves, replaced with … this horrible amalgamation that he figured even his mother would have a hard time creating. "Brigid…" he whispers in a whimpered tone as he floats over to the table to get a closer look. Even though he's not sure he wants one.
"Loros… I know you understand what is going on here. Besides the obvious… please. Hate me all you want, but we have a common goal here. Tell me what you know. I… beg you."
Hoping those words would be enough, the mage closes his eyes in an attempt to hide the rare outpouring of emotion.
Loros watches the 'Mayuri' go down with a sigh. Yeah, that rather seemed to be the deal. Shortly the other shoe will be dropping he's sure. Not that this is really a concern for Loros - he's just here for one thing. And that would be the mutilated and twisted shape on the table.
He watches as Noh extends out her gift from Brigid out towards the shape. He hadn't forgotten she had it, and he waits to see what happens before popping the stopper all the way loose.
"What I know? Well, let's see. That's cold iron - might want to get rid of that. I'm pretty sure that's her - smells right, but I'm waiting for the good Noh to confirm. If you've got any silk, run that between her and the iron. Pull loose any surgical stuff that looks like iron as well. I expect to make it moot in a moment or two."
Noh's eyes narrow a little— the Iron disturbs her, and she agrees with Loros softly, uttering a grunt, as she stretches the charm out. The smell is.. Right. But the multiple sewn parts, the missing bits, the overall mess, and … Her eyes become slits, and she can't /help/ that rumbling growl in her throat, that just COMES from … From wanting to rip something apart. She watches the glow.. Then looks to Loros, and nods, before looking to the Dark Wind, and speaking: "You are to hearing him. Your cloak is silk, no? Use that." She then backs away. She suspects great healing or Holy magic in that Jar… and after Leprechauns, and Carnivorous Pixies, and hordes of shambling creatures, Noh is… Well, admittedly in no shape to withstand being nearer to that than several feet away.
Sure, she could probably drain the Mayuri-Would-Be, easily. But.
… Trash not fit to honor with Burial rights.
With confirmation from Noh, and action taken by Magus, Loros is now ready to work his 'trick'. And before either of them can react, there is an obsidian knife in his hand. Moving swiftly as Mists begin to leak from the jar, the false arms are hewed away. The wrong eye is cut out with a deft flick of the wrist. That which does not belong is cut away or severed in a clean efficient butchery.
And even as he works, the jar's stopper cracks open - and from it pour Mists from the Heartland of Fairie. The Heart of -Summer-. What Loros paid for such a thing is beyond guesswork, a chant filling the air as the Pactmage works. Tricksy, bright and full of vibrant chaos and the sting of whisky, it pours into the poor battered fey upon the table.
Noh utters a hiss to this; she was right, nothing she wants to be very near to at all comes from that Jar. But she doesn't attach herself to the ceiling just yet. But she doesn't look HAPPY. She looks… Well. Let's just say that anything that comes at them NOW will probably have to deal with… A Dhampir that's bordering on Vampire-like scales of Tempertantrum.
Oh, Bree looks a little better, more energetic and less comatose, certainly, even though her first motion since she could actually move is to curl up and onto her side, to try to get up, and looks rather… traumatized. She does speak, softly, but it's hard to make out entirely.
"Oh most stupid shinigami, for you have cursed yourself, you see, for this heinous crime on me, thou shalt sure writhe in agony. Beware my wrath, for it has stuck, and thou, thyself are out of luck, for now, thou most vile life now will suck since thou accrued the wrath of Puck," she mutters, apparently still talking to Mayuri, regardless of it he's here or not. Her gaze looks a little distant yet, even, like she hasn't quite realised who's here.
Loros flicks his knife once, clearing the blood from it before he vanishes it into his suit somewhere.
"Well, then Puck. A curse most well spoken. But we are not out yet."
Magus backs off to give Brigid enough spacee to move. The observations continue as he is speechless for the moment.
"… You are to being in poor shape, Prince of Rabbits. That rhyme of yours is to being… Badly thought, but appropriate for purpose, no?" Noh Murmurs, still staying her distance, as long as that Jar is open. But… Once she's sure it's actually /SAFE/ to approach, she approaches the table, looking between Brigid, Magus, and Loros, before offering, "I could to carrying you out?"
Suddenly, the wall behind Brigid's platform switches on. Or rather, the large screen that is camouflaged as an iron wall switches on. On it is the widely grinning face of a person they had just met. And killed.
The ghoulish grin that welcomes them is that of Mayuri Kurotsuchi as his yellow eyes scrutinize those faithful friends who came to his victim's rescue. "Hmm. You're slow," he notes helpfully. "I'm afraid that I have escaped the moment you entered here through a secret passage. After all, I've already finished my initial research. That pitiful trash on the table is of no more use to me! Though after she finally quit with the backtalk her screams were positively delicious, kukuku!"
His eyes roll back for a moment in perverse reminiscence, but just for a moment as he suddenly raises his hand and points towards Loros with a single index finger. "You disappoint me — you've betrayed our deal, so I'll just have to make sure you don't get what you want. I don't like loose ends, anyway."
His unnatural grin widens even more, if that is even possible. "You have been breathing a deadly poison ever since you entered — and don't think any mystical natures or any of that crap will make you immune, my poisons aren't of such a low level! Soon you will all die in agony and there is nothing you can do. You'll never reach a facility equipped to handle MY science in time. Huhuhu … and this whole complex will explode in, oh, three minutes. I started the self-destruct count-down two minutes ago. And as you're going to start running any second now, allow me to leave you with one last present."
Mayuri reaches down to apparently push some sort of button, upon which the corpse of the fake Mayuri suddenly begins to bloat, its flesh bulging and twisting until it breaks apart in a violent, large explosion! And from the following sounds of it it wasn't just him — all of the experiments previously seen, dead or alive, suffered the same fate. All except Brigid, for Mayuri had not had time to implant a bomb into her body.
And Loros?
Laughs in Mayuri's face.
"I'm not here, GREAT SCIENTIST! I never was!"
Loros chuckles, and coughs up blood. And something black, and vile. "You're not the only one who knows how to make a Simulacrum. And I promised a better specimin in exchange for her - and I have one here."
Reaching for his belt, the Mage lifts up the Horn.
"Accursed by Puck, Murderer and Captor of Fey. In the Name of The Summer Queen Titania, In the Name of the Winter Queen Mab, and in the name of the High King Oberon - I call the Wild Hunt."
Lifting the horn to his lips, he blows. And wherever Mayuri is hiding? It is -there- that the Horn sounds. And then all that's left of Loros is a dab of mud, a flash of flame, a gust of smoke - and a pendant and a note. The note says 'Everyone Touch, then Break Me'.
And then, of course. BOOM. Noh was right. Not even fit to eat. She utters a snarl of pain as shrapnel cuts and rips skin. She's.. She's not THAT worried about Poison, really. But that was… Pain, to have something explode so close to her. It manages to make a fine mess of her back and left side, which is just… wonderful, really. But… But. She's not above a state at which she can't regenerate. In time.
She's about to start cursing and running when Loros … Melts away in flame and smoke, but the Pendant is left. She reads what it says aloud, before reaching out to touch the pendant curiously..
Magus does the same, reaching out for the pendant. He isn't going to mess around waiting too long, though. As for Brigid, he reaches out for her hand to drag her to him so that they can get out of this place together.
When the Pendant is broken, there is a flash of purple fire that consumes the three living souls. And leaves them sitting on clean grass next to a care package of painkillers, bandages and a radio.

<Union-IC> Amuro Ray sighs. "Alright, Saber, can you get out there?"
<Union-IC> Saber says, "Yes, but I will not be able to treat any wounds. It would be better to dispatch a medical team too."

<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "I'm just trying to plan a few steps ahead here in the meantime. Getting them inside and healed is priority one, of course. After that get what information you can from Magus and Noh when they're able to speak. Prime, thanks."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime | Alexis mutters something about putting scrubs on when you're half asleep.
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "We're always on call and you know that, Alexis."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "It's rough, but…That's the life we chose."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime | Alexis says, "That doesn't make these things any easier to put ON."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime | Alexis says, "…oh, wait, yeah, those are the LEGS."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime | Alexis says, "Makes sense now!"
<Union-IC> Past Link says, "And bring decontamination equipment."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "It doesn't make a lot of things easier. …I didn't really have much choice in the matter. *sigh* …Get some coffee or something before you go in."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "Or some kind of authorized supplment to kick yourself awake. Get a few extra hours rest afterwards if you need to."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime | Alexis says, "I know what I'm doin', Amuro. I've been playing doctor with Prime for two Multiversal years now."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "Noted. Just trying to make sure we're all on the same page."
<Union-IC> Tohsaka Rin says, "If you need me…. I think I can do it… I've regrown organs before…"
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "We'll have the cloning vats spun up as soon as we get a tissue sample and an assessment of the organs needed."
<Union-IC> Tohsaka Rin says, "I'll just have to break a promice to someone…"
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "as long as you're well enough to do the work, I don't want you aggrivating your own wounds in the process, Tohsaka."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "Prime, what's it looking like? Do you need someone else on hand?"
<Union-IC> Tohsaka Rin says, "I got healed already, I'm good enough…"
<Union-IC> Tohsaka Rin says, "If this works, you can thank Amelia.."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "Noted, Tohsaka."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "It looks like we've got about as many cooks as this kitchen can handle, Amuro. We have two fully prepped OR's and a third in the process, and two surgeons and a healing mage for each. If you could spare another surgeon it might help, but other than that, there isn't much we can do."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says this amidst the sound of rushing water. He must be scrubbing up.
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "Right, should we send Tohsaka your way?"
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "If you can."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "Alright, as long as you're good for it, Rin, get out there and do what you can."
<Union-IC> Tohsaka Rin says, "I'm on my way."
<Union-IC> Past Link says, "I repeat — bring contaminant gear."
<Union-IC> Past Link says, "I have no idea what this stuff is that we've been exposed to."
<Union-IC> The Scout says, "What? Aw, jeez.."
<Union-IC> Past Link says, "I've only had a little bit from it, I'm /resistant/ to this kind of thing, and I feel a little nauseated."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "Schala, Rin."
<Union-IC> Schala Zeal says, "Yes?"
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "Remember. Do NOT try to completely heal them on the scene."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "Stablize them enough to transport to the hospital."
<Union-IC> The Scout says, "We gonna need a transport out here, guys. I can't run these guys back in this state!"
<Union-IC> Tohsaka Rin says, "Understood…"
<Union-IC> Nina Wyndia says, "Just leave that to me!"
<Union-IC> Medic says, "I am treating ze most grievous injuries as I see zhem."
<Union-IC> Schala Zeal says, "I shall not. However, it will take strong magics to detox and stabilize. I ask only that no one interrupt my concentration."
<Union-IC> The Scout says, "Great!"
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "You heard her, let her concentrate. Getting those poisons taken care of is vital."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "Affirmative. ARTHUR, smart filtering mode for Schala."
<Union-IC> Nina Wyndia says, "Um… will you need more help or not? I don't know a thing about this containment stuff."
<Union-IC> Tohsaka Rin says, "I'm going to be using some… Unorthodox methods… If anyone is sensitive to dimentional magics, this is your warning…"
<Union-IC> Medic says, "I vill leave zat to her. Emeticz und diruetics can only do so much, und from ze schound of it, zis exschposure vus clearly not via ingeschtion."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "Prime, your call."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "Nina, stay back."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "We may need you to help Link or Noh once Magus and Brigid are taken care of, and once they're decontaminated."
<Union-IC> Nina Wyndia mrfs. Uncomfortable feather ruffles. "Okay!"
<Union-IC> Nina Wyndia says, "I hope everyone gets through this okay."
<Union-IC> The Scout says, "Y'ain't kiddin'."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray says, "Decontamination comes first. Healing their wounds wouldn't mean a thing if a poison kills them from inside first."
<Union-IC> Amuro Ray sighs. "What a night."
<Union-IC> Optimus Prime says, "Fortunately three of our surgeons, myself included, are highly bio-resistant."
